Ed Flanagan is running for State Auditor

The office of State Auditor requires a leader that can bridge the State's legislative and executive branches; Ed Flanagan's years of experience in both make him the ideal candidate.

As State Auditor of Vermont, Ed Flanagan will continue to stand up for all Vermonters-- workers, farmers, business community, seniors, the most vulnerable among us who seek a secure and sound future.

Ed will use the platform of State Auditor as a catalyst for reviving Vermont's economy through the judicious use of Federal Stimulus money, saving tax dollars, and ensuring affordable Universal Health Care to allow businesses and families to thrive.

Ed Flanagan has had the honor of serving Vermonters in Montpelier for nearly two decades, as State Auditor and State Senator. His service to Vermont has given him the unique and necessary experience to bring economic stability back into the lives of Vermonters as they face these unsettling times. Ed knows, in depth, the financial and economic structure of how the state runs and the interaction of the legislative and executive branches.

Ed knows how to achieve the goals of all Vermonters

Ed has extensive knowledge of procedures in both branches of government and has working relationships with the people in both branches of government. Ed is primed to help guide the Federal Stimulus money to where Vermonters need it most. His experience has prepared him to work for Vermonters at the highest level from day one.

In May 2005, Ed Flanagan returned to the Vermont statehouse after recovering from a coma and the injuries from a near-fatal accident, and was given standing ovations in the Senate and House where he proudly cast his vote for the health care reform bill. Flanagan worked hard for two years to make a version of the law. The ovations he received dramatically emphasized the importance of Vermonters' right to comprehensive health insurance.

Ed Flanagan has chosen to stand up and fight for hard working Vermonters who are, more than others, feeling the financial squeeze as political opponents bask in their wealth and privilege. Never before have there been as many monumental challenges facing our political leaders. These tough economic times are creating pressure to cut back on our government initiatives.

Vermont needs strong leaders to guide the State through the current economic climate and use the State's Federal Stimulus funding effectively and efficiently so that Vermont can emerge from this recession stronger than ever.
