Ed's Plans as State Auditor

The office of State Auditor requires a leader that can bridge the State's legislative and executive branches; Ed Flanagan's years of experience in both make him the ideal candidate.

Ed began changing the way government runs through his work in the State Auditor's office. His ability to revitalize a backwater office from an ineffective obscurity into a hard hitting consumer advocate is the kind of skill needed in the office of State Auditor. Ed has shown that he has the endurance, motivation, and ability to stand up for the little guy against special interests with a take-charge attitude that gets the job done efficiently and effectively.

Ed's time in the State Legislature has equipped him with the tools needed to successfully navigate important bills from conception to implementation. He has honed his ability to pilot legislation through the morass while maintaining the focus and goals behind the initial incarnation of the bill. These lessons are invaluable when the time comes to move past the ideal into the concrete form that will directly benefit Vermonters.

The combination of Ed's experiences in the executive branch as the State Auditor with his experiences in the legislative branch as a State Senator provides him with a unique perspective that will effectively guide him to success in the office of State Auditor. His insight into both worlds make Ed the ideal person to fulfill the role of State Auditor for Vermont during these turbulent times.

As State Auditor of Vermont, Ed Flanaga will continue to stand up for Vermont's workers, farmers, seniors, and all Vermonters who seek a secure and sound future.

Ed will use the platform of State Auditor as a catalyst for reviving Vermont's economy through the wise use of Federal Stimulus money, saving tax dollars, and ensuring affordable Universal Health Care to allow businesses and families to thrive.


As State Auditor, Ed Flanagan will bridge the executive and legislative branches with an emphasis on the following:

  • Safeguard our tax dollars stressing fiscal responsibility while ensuring that the
    entire burden and all benefits are shared fairly amongst all Vermonters
  • Stand up for families – seniors, children and working parents
  • Fully implement the Health Insurance Legislation passed previously with the
    power of the Governor’s office including new emphasis on prescription drug’s
    affordability, accessability, and lobby transparency
  • Upgrade Vermont’s broadband infrastructure helping to lower health care
    costs and increase Vermont’s commercial viability
  • Transition Vermont towards energy independance with a greater emphasis
    on the green energy economy creating much needed, high quality jobs and
    helping reduce our environment impact
  • Reform Vermont’s election laws including campaign finance and same day
    voter registration
